When Capital Works, It Mobilises More Capital

One of the clearest indicators that an investment model is working is not simply the capital it deploys, but the confidence it creates for others to invest.

As of Q2 2026, our initial investments have enabled financial partners across East Africa to mobilise an additional USD 3.06 million, financing productive assets worth USD 3.47 million for farmers and rural micro-enterprises.

The Microleasing Fund continues to demonstrate the power of well-structured local currency finance, delivered through rural SACCOs and MFIs, to expand access to productive assets while maintaining a strong portfolio.

As of June 2026:

  • 20,270 productive assets have been financed through 4,127 microleases;
  • 20,635 people are benefiting from increased productivity and income opportunities;
  • 64% of financed assets have been acquired by women;
  • More than 2,300 climate-smart assets have been financed, contributing to an estimated 7,237 tonnes of GHG emissions reduction;
  • 355 asset providers have benefited through increased business opportunities; and
  • the investment pipeline has grown to USD 47.7 million across 96 financial institutions, including a priority pipeline of USD 8.1 million.

Beyond growth, the Fund’s portfolio quality also remains strong. One financial partner is currently under recovery proceedings following the unexpected loss of its Chief Executive Officer. The broader portfolio continues to perform exceptionally well and, excluding this isolated case, the remainder of the portfolio records 0% NPL90.

These results reinforce a simple principle: when capital is aligned with the realities of agriculture and delivered through capable rural financial institutions, it does more than finance productive assets—it builds institutional confidence, mobilises additional investment and creates lasting economic opportunities for farmers, rural financial institutions and rural communities.

We remain committed to scaling inclusive financial solutions that deliver both impact and sustainability across East Africa.
