World Food Day 2026 | Celebrating the Hands That Feed Nations

Innovate today. Nourish tomorrow.

Every meal we share, every loaf of bread we enjoy, and every cup of tea or coffee we drink begins with the hard work of a farmer.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), family farms produce approximately 80% of the world’s food by value — a remarkable contribution to feeding our planet.

On World Food Day, we celebrate the millions of farmers whose dedication, resilience and ingenuity sustain communities, support economies and nourish nations.

Yet hard work alone is not always enough.

For smallholder farmers in particular, access to productive assets — from irrigation equipment and farm machinery to livestock and climate-smart technologies — can make a significant difference. These investments help farmers increase productivity, improve incomes and build more resilient livelihoods.

And when farmers can produce more, earn more and invest in their future, they contribute to stronger communities and greater food security.

At adOpes, this is the thinking behind our Microleasing Fund. Working in partnership with local financial institutions across East Africa, we help make productive assets more accessible to smallholder farmers, enabling them to turn opportunities into sustainable livelihoods.

This World Food Day, we honour the hands that feed our nations and reaffirm our commitment to supporting the farmers behind them.

Because nourishing tomorrow begins with empowering farmers today.
